I feel like Russell Case in Independance Day. "I've been sayin' it! Ain't I been sayin' it??!!!"
It started way back when Alex Jones was banned from all platforms. I don't care if you hate him or hang on his every word, that should have gotten your attention.
It's only gotten worse. Day by day, little by little, our freedoms have been slowly chipped away. The all powerful internet gods monitor information and decide what you should or should not see, what results your web searches should provide, who you can listen to and to what viewpoints you should be exposed. Now half the country is being silenced, essentially erased by Big Tech while millions cheer them on.
Big Tech is no joke, by the way. If you are viewing it as nothing more than a modern convenience, you are sorely underestimating the influence it carries. He who controls the flow of information rules the world. Hitler knew this. He banned the writings of Helen Keller, Jack London, Earnest Hemingway and others to stifle free thought. He seized control of the media, magazines, and radio to eliminate all viewpoints that didn't align with the party philosophy, dubbing them dangerous and threatening. What's worse is that millions of German citizens were not only on board with it, but thankful their kind and noble leader would protect them from such horrible, dangerous, hurtful diatribe.
We are there. Right now. This is what America has become.
Over the last two days the Big Tech giants at Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter have began a massive purge of conservative user accounts - deleting, blocking and banning those whom they deem too "dangerous" for the rest of us to be exposed to. At first my thought was to jump ship - delete my accounts and move to the newer alternatives where I can speak freely and just fuggetaboudit.
But after this last stunt I've decided that's not the answer as it's apparent there will be no end or limit to their reach. You see, Google and Apple have joined in the effort with threats to deplatform the alternate social media site Parler unless it participate in these Orwellian censorship efforts. That was the last straw for me.
I'm not one for giving in to bullies. If I do, I'm no different than the folks that stood silent while the Nazi Propaganda Ministry took control of all media in 1933. I'm not the silent type.
So in short, I'm riding this train till the wheels fall off. I'll stay here and fight against this new Big Tech Propaganda Ministry, these tyrants, saying what I want to say, posting what I want to post, sharing what I want to share and ignoring what I choose to ignore. I'll stay and fight for your right to do the same.
I'll stay until they erase me.
